Clay

If you’re feeling zapped, you’re in the right place.I help neurodivergents make sense of why life can feel so exhausting, especially those who often have lives without an off switch - like parents, partners, and people growing something of their own.If that's you, your goal shouldn't be to "do more" or "push harder."Like the hundreds of people I've coached, you need to first understand exactly where your energy is going, where friction lives, and what deserves your attention the most. You can start right now with my free POWER Assessment™ ↓

Work With Me

My coaching is empathetic, educational, and engaging - grounded in research from positive psychology, neuroscience, and executive functioning.Translation: We get curious about what’s actually happening in your brain and body, name the patterns that are draining you, and build support systems that give you energy back instead of stealing it.I don’t dwell in toxic positivity territory, run productivity bootcamps, or expect perfection from my clients. And I definitely don’t believe more pressure is the answer. You don’t need another system to fail at or to be further pathologized. You need the right kind of support at the right level for your life right now.(Goldilocks would be proud of that last statement, I'm sure of it)Here’s how we can work together ↓

I Got Receipts

Curious what my clients have to say about working with me?I gotchoo. Hear from real people who were really zapped and now have more energy, more clarity, and more self-trust.Go here for proof ↓

About Me

For most of my life, I felt like I was living on hard mode.(You wouldn't have guessed if you met me because...hello people-pleasing)I was constantly drained, overwhelmed by daily life, and quietly convinced I was failing at things that seemed easy for everyone else. Relationships slipped through the cracks. My emotions felt unhinged. Organization felt impossible. I said yes when I meant no, avoided asking for help, and carried a constant hum of fear and self-doubt.I didn’t have language for it then, but in my mid-30s, I’d learn I’m both autistic and have ADHD (or AuDHD as it's more informally called). The real shift didn’t start with a diagnosis, though. It started when I stopped trying to “fix” myself, acknowledged both my strengths and limitations, and by seeking out support from someone who got how my brain actually works.Life didn’t turn into a flawless mix of rainbows, puppies, and care-free moments. But it did get lighter and more sustainable.I recovered faster from burnout.
Shame stopped running the show.
And I finally had energy for the people and projects that mattered most.
That experience is why I do this work.Today, I coach neurodivergents who are tired of being tired and are ready for relief. My clients are people whose lives don’t have an off switch - parents, partners, and people growing something of their own.My coaching style blends lived experience, research-informed approaches, and deep curiosity to:▸ Loosen self-limiting beliefs
▸ Build systems your brain can sustain
▸ Understand what’s draining your energy and help you boost it
I’m certified by the FLOW Coaching Institute as a positive psychology coach, a certified Master NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming) Practitioner by the Complementary Therapists Accredited Association, and a former fitness and nutrition coach who saw firsthand how mindset and behavior change can create transformational results that not just change outcomes, but lives.Best of all, I’m a happy husband and dad of two in a proudly neurospicy household in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in North Carolina.Rather than ending on a heartfelt note by saying it would be an honor to work with you (which is true), I’ll say this:If your brain feels like it’s running a group project where no one knows the agenda, I’m probably your guy.Wanna chat? About The POWER Framework™

The POWER Framework™ was built to answer one core question:Why can daily life feel so damn exhausting, even when you are trying your hardest?Over years of working almost exclusively with neurodivergent clients, I started noticing the same patterns show up again and again. Not personality flaws. Not motivation problems. Not a lack of effort.Patterns.Certain areas of life were quietly (or sometimes loudly) draining their mental and physical energy. Others were holding things together more than people realized. And when we stopped guessing and started paying attention to those patterns, everything got easier to work with.

The Five POWER Zones

The POWER Framework™ focuses on five core zones that shape how manageable or overwhelming daily life feels for neurodivergent people:▸ Prioritization
How decisions get made and what actually gets your attention
▸ Organization
How systems support you or slowly steal your soul
▸ Wellness
How nutrition, rest, movement, and sleep affect your bandwidth
▸ Emotional Regulation
How emotions move through your day instead of hijacking it
▸ Reframing Beliefs
The stories you carry about yourself that run the show
These zones are always operating - even when you are not actively thinking about them. Especially then. When one zone is under strain, the others feel it. When one zone is supported, the others get a boost too.

Why These Zones Matter

When these areas are ignored, life feels heavy.Decisions take forever. Emotions spike fast. You second-guess yourself constantly. And everything feels harder than it should. When these zones are given intentional attention, things start to feel lighter.Decisions use less energy. Emotions settle faster. You trust yourself more. And progress replaces mental and emotional whiplash. Not because you became a different person, but because the system around you finally clicks.

The Science Behind It

The POWER Framework™ is grounded in research, not all vibes and stories. It draws heavily from Dr. Russell Barkley’s research on executive functioning (including the BDEFS scale), alongside core principles from positive psychology researchers such as Dr. Martin Seligman and Dr. Caroline Leaf, and the teachings and research of Dr. Megan Anna Neff on neurodivergent burnout. These foundations help identify:▸ Where mental energy is leaking
▸ Which habits, mindsets, and environments are creating friction
▸ Which patterns deserve support first
Instead of trying to fix everything all at once, it helps you work smarter (and kinder) with your capacity.

The POWER Assessment™

To bring the framework to life, I created The POWER Assessment™.The assessment gives you two scores for each POWER zone:Zap scores show where habits, environments, or beliefs may be draining your energy or creating friction.Zest scores highlight where things already feel supportive, aligned, or easier to sustain. This matters because you do not start from zero. Ever. The assessment helps you see:▸ Where support creates relief
▸ What is already working in your favor
▸ Where starting will make a difference
It is not another personality assessment. It's a navigation tool.

Connected By Design

Here’s one of the coolest parts about the whole shabang:The POWER zones are deeply interconnected. When you increase Zest in one zone, it tends to reduce Zap in others. As you work on reframing your beliefs, you're able to regulate your emotions with a bit more ease.As you regulate your emotions, wellness-based self-care becomes possible, which then creates wiggle room for executive functioning to come back online. It's less like juggling five separate balls with perfect coordination, and more like adjusting a machine one gear at a time, which makes the whole thing run smoother.

Why I Built This

I built The POWER Framework™ and The POWER Assessment™ because I was (and still am) tired of watching capable, caring, intelligent neurodivergents blame themselves for systems that never fit them.I needed it for myself. My clients needed it even more. This framework gives language to lived experience, structure to self-understanding, and direction to change that does not require burning yourself out in the process. That’s the goal.Less fighting your brain.
More supporting it.
Less zap.
More zest.
If you are ready to see how this shows up in your own life, The POWER Assessment™ is the best place to start.Your brain will thank you for clicking the button below ↓

I Got Receipts

Real words from real humans below.

I think this is more what I had expected my executive functioning coach to help me with, and she's $500 an hour. She never came close, in six months, to giving me the insight Clay gave me in thirty minutes. The type of insight Clay provided was like...I've never felt so seen and understood. And I have been going to therapy for the last five years consistently.I've had parent coaching. I've had executive functioning coaching. Clay was so precise based on the results of the assessment on what exactly is going on.I could see in real time, as I was watching the video, the power of the recommendations that Clay was making. And I could already start to see how those would be massive unlocks.- Andrea W. | Parenting Coach

Around my birthday last year, I found myself deep in burnout, overwhelmed, and struggling with executive function in ways that felt both frustrating and frightening.I did what many of us do. I researched root causes. I searched for solutions. I kept asking myself why nothing seemed to work. And almost embarrassingly, it never occurred to me to book a coaching session for myself…despite spending most of my adult life advocating for coaching.Even as a coach, it wasn’t easy to let someone else coach me. I know how to coach. I believed I could self-reflect my way through it. But choosing support reminded me of something essential: no one in your life, including yourself, can be truly objective. An external coach sees what you can’t, especially when you’re tired or stuck inside your own loops. In a single session, Clay helped me gently unpack years of heavy overthinking, shame, and masking. Patterns I had carried for nearly 40 years. Clarity in 40 minutes!I’m deeply grateful I allowed myself that support.- Roshini M. | Leadership Coach

When you are looking for a coach, experience is better than book knowledge. However, when you combine both lived experience and the science and knowledge behind those learnings, you have a dynamic coach that doesn’t tell you what to do but calls out your own knowledge and ability to see yourself better - not by giving the answers but by walking alongside you through the learning.Clay has experienced what he coaches and knows firsthand what those struggles can be. He has helped me realize things in me that can be better and others that I didn’t know I even had.- Robert H. | President & Entrepreneur

Clay has a remarkable ability to truly see his clients - not just their goals and challenges but their whole selves. His intuitive understanding of people on a profoundly human level sets him apart in the field. He approaches his sessions with compassion, attentiveness, and genuine curiosity. He created a safe, non-judgmental space where I felt heard, understood, and empowered to explore my path with clarity and confidence. What stands out most about Clay is his passion for helping others become the best versions of themselves. His commitment to their success goes beyond the typical coaching relationship, making him not just a coach but a true partner in their journey. If you’re looking for a life coach who combines keen insight, unwavering dedication, and a deeply human touch, Clay is the person you want by your side. I cannot recommend him highly enough.- Kasey P. | ICF-Certified Coach

Being coached by Clay was so refreshing—like a drink of cool water at the end of a long HIIT workout. In my case, the HIIT workout was “trying to make progress on business tasks and practical challenges within my rabbit warren of an ADHD brain” and the drink of water was Clay walking me through how to use my own reward-based programming strategically instead of trying to fight against it.I went into the session feeling rather defeated about my lack of progress, and I came out of the session able to clearly see what steps to take next AND feeling excited about doing them.Total game changer!I've worked with other coaches before - great coaches who have helped me in a lot of ways - but this was different. It was like finally being able to have a conversation with someone who speaks my language after a lifetime of trying to translate every word I hear or say.- Kali J. | Certified Boundaries Coach

I'm incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work with Clay! Within just ONE HOUR, he helped me identify and completely break down the blocks I was facing in my business. His advice was invaluable, leaving me feeling less stressed and empowered to dive fully into my business again. The shift in perspective and understanding of my blocks is priceless - I no longer feel trapped by them. I'm thrilled to move forward with my business!Clay offered me practical, real-world advice that truly transformed my mindset. I would highly recommend speaking with him if you feel stuck/trapped/fear around your life or business. Clay can help you overcome obstacles and achieve success!!- Alexandra S. | Founder & Coach

I chose Clay for his balance of encouragement, real-life experience, and professionalism. He showed me that I had everything I needed to learn new things and helped me walk out the steps needed to progress.I have struggled with believing that I can find solutions to problems and move forward into new ventures. Clay sifted through and took my own positive words and said them back to me in a way that I felt like I was coaching myself.  He pointed out my own growth and transformation and gave me hope that I can continue to grow, learn, and take on new projects and endeavors.I know that my beliefs have changed and it has greatly affected my behavior. I have conversations with myself that take on my doubts and I review and remind myself of why I am able to overcome or figure out what is in front of me. I purposely think of past successes and know that I am capable of success again.Clay used solid facts and information to guide and encourage me to execute my own plan with very doable steps. He also understood my struggles, and I found him to be so relatable. He listened well, demonstrated authentic empathy, and was passionate about helping me. I am grateful for the experience of Clay being my coach.- Delight T. | Founder, Tripp's Merc.
